By thanking her teammates, coaches, staff members, people working in clubs where she played, her family and friends, doctors and many others on social media, Judith Pietersen said goodbye to playing professional volleyball after 14 years.

“It was a really fantastic time. Now it’s time to focus on other things, but with these amazing experiences in my mind forever,“ Pietersen added in the post.

The outside hitter, who was able to cover opposite hitter position as well, made 205 caps for the Dutch national team (since 2011), playing her last international match at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. While defending the colors of her country, Pietersen won the silver medal at the 2015 CEV European Championships and bronze medal at the 2016 FIVB World Grand Prix.

Judith competed professionally in the Dutch (Seesing Personeel | Longa`59 and AMVJ-Martinus), German (Dresdner SC), Polish (Trefl Proxima Kraków), Turkish (Trabzon İdmanocağı) and Italian (Savino Del Bene Scandicci, Igor Gorgonzola Novara, Liu Jo Nordmeccanica Modena, and Banca Valsabbina Millenium Brescia) top divisions.

Three days ago, in the last round of an Italian Championship regular season, she played her last match. Judith’s current club, Banca Valsabbina Millenium Brescia, for whom she scored 116 points this season in 42 sets, expressed gratitude to her and wished her good luck.
