Unlike Game 1 of the 2018-2019 Efeler Ligi playoff quarterfinals, the players of the top seed Halkbank had to shed every drop of sweat to prevail over No.8 Ziraat in Game 2 in order to advance to the semifinals: 3-2 (24-26, 25-20, 18-25, 25-19, 17-15). Kemal Kayhan (six kill blocks of the team’s 19) and Slovenian Alen Šket topped Halkbank’s scorers with 15 points apiece. The Iranian youngster Saber Kazemi poured in 17 points for Ziraat.
The third seed Galatasaray also clinched their semifinal series by a 2-0, achieving another straight-set win over No.6 İstanbul BBSK.
Driven by the Frenchman Jhon Wendt (28 points) and six kill blocks by the prospect Osman Çağatay Durmaz, the fourth seed Maliye Piyango fought back at Fenerbahçe to tie the series at 1-1.
