A legendary Russian volleyball player Ekaterina Gamova has spoken about her life after volleyball and her job as an assistant coach of the Russian U18 women’s national team.

Was it difficult to get used on life after professional career and how did you come up with an idea to join U18 national team?

It was not hard. I knew that there will be a time where I would have to quit and last year was the best moment for me to do so. I did not need a break after my retirement. It was my wish to find a working place immediately and the Russian Federation was looking for an assistant coach. I was pleased with the fact that they thought of me. Volleyball is what I know the best. It is very interesting and satisfying to share my wealth of experience with the young players and it feels good to get a feedback from them. I feel very comfortable in our team, but there are a lot of strong squads at this European Championship and every game will be very difficult. We have to show our best Volleyball in each match,” says Gamova.
