The final series of the Russian Men’s PARI Super League kicked off in Kazan, where Zenit-Kazan convincingly defeated Zenit Saint Petersburg in straight sets (25:18, 25:17, 25:21) to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five showdown.
Zenit-Kazan’s outside hitters and opposite led the charge—Dmitry Volkov scored a match-high 18 points with 73% attack efficiency, while Sam Deroo and Maxim Mikhaylov each added 14 points.
The reigning champions from Kazan, now chasing their 13th national title, will host Game 2 on April 16.
