Brazilian expert Cezar Douglas Silva has been appointed as the head coach for Norwid Częstochowa in the 2024/25 PlusLiga season. Douglas Silva expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge, stating, “PlusLiga is currently one of the best leagues in Europe. I have observed it for a long time, and now is the time to face it. I am excited to take on this challenge.”
Silva has previously led Brazilian teams Volley Futuro and Taubate Volley to significant successes, including reaching the final of the South American Club Championship and winning the Brazilian Cup twice. His accolades also include two silver and two bronze medals in the Brazilian Superliga.
Having been a part of Brazil’s youth national team, Silva transitioned to coaching in Italy, where he recently led Vibo Valentia to win the Italian Championship, Italian Cup, and Italian Supercup in the A2 category during the 2022/23 season. Last season, he coached Farmitalia Catania.
The current Norwid Częstochowa roster for the 2024/25 season includes nine players:
- Outside hitters: Damian Kogut, Milad Ebadipour
- Setters: Tomasz Kowalski, Quinn Isaacson
- Opposite hitters: Mateusz Borkowski, Patrik Indra
- Middle blockers: Bartosz Schmidt, Sebastian Adamczyk, Daniel Popiela
