Puerto Rico made a powerful start at the NORCECA Women’s Final Four, dominating Costa Rica in straight sets at the Salvador Dijols Coliseum. The home team thrilled the crowd with a 3-0 victory, finishing with scores of 25-11, 25-14, and 25-14.
Puerto Rico excelled in all aspects of the game, leading in attacks (46-19), blocks (4-0), and serves (12-4). Stephanie Rivera was the top scorer for Puerto Rico with 12 points, while Costa Rica’s Tatiana Sayles led her team with 6 points.
In the opening match of the tournament, Mexico overcame Cuba 3-1. Uxue Amaya Guereca Parra shone for Mexico with 23 points, while Greisy Fine Martínez led Cuba with 16 points.
Next, Puerto Rico will face Cuba, and Costa Rica will play against Mexico in the Round Robin competition. The event continues at Salvador Dijols Coliseum in Ponce until June 9.
