VNL M: No Unbeaten Teams Remain

In the Men’s Volleyball Nations League 2024, no team remains unbeaten after Saturday’s Pool 3 matches in Fukuoka. Hosts Japan and Brazil handed Poland and Slovenia their first defeats, respectively, while Türkiye achieved their historic first win in the VNL by defeating Iran.

Japan thrilled their home crowd with a 3-1 victory over Slovenia (25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 25-21), moving to third place in the standings. Yuji Nishida led Japan with 26 points, while Slovenia’s Toncek Stern scored 27. This match pushed Slovenia to fourth place and cost them FIVB World Ranking points.

Earlier, Brazil overcame defending champions Poland 3-1 (25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 25-23), with Yoandy Leal scoring 22 points. Brazil now stands fifth, while Poland dropped to second place behind Italy.

In a historic victory, Türkiye defeated Iran 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 27-25). Kaan Gurbuz led Türkiye with 34 points, lifting his team to 15th place and leaving Iran winless at the bottom of the table.

In the opening match of the day for Pool 4 in Ottawa, Canada, Cuba triumphed over France with a 3-2 victory.
