Galatasaray HDI Sigorta continues to bolster its men’s volleyball squad, officially announcing the arrival of Canadian outside hitter Stephen Maar on a two-year deal.
Born in 1994 and standing 201 cm tall, Maar began his career at McMaster University after first picking up the sport at Bill Crothers Secondary School. He spent the last eight years competing in Europe’s top leagues, particularly in Italy, where he represented clubs like Kioene Padova, Verona, Milano, Dynamo Moscow, Cisterna, Monza, and most recently, Piacenza. Throughout his journey, he has earned recognition as one of the league’s most dynamic attackers, often leading in scoring.
Galatasaray’s management praised the signing, highlighting Maar’s international experience and athleticism as key assets for the club’s future success. The club welcomed him with open arms, saying: “We are delighted to have Stephen Maar in our ranks. We believe he will be a crucial part of our journey in the upcoming season and beyond.”
