The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) made the last-minute change when it comes to the 2021 Champions League qualifications.

Dinamo-Moscow

Dinamo-Moscow

If Russia’s Dinamo Moscow qualifies for Second Round of the women’s Champions League, the bracket will be changed compared to the draw results today.

The team from the Russian capital won’t be playing against the winners of the all-Ukrainian clash between SC “Prometey“ Kamyanske and Khimik Yuzhny, the CEV press service told RIA Novosti. That’s because the governing body of European volleyball doesn’t allow Russian and Ukrainian teams to compete against each other.

So, in case Dinamo eliminate Hungary’s Vasas Óbuda Budapest in First Round, they will have a much harder obstacle than Ukrainian teams: for example, Italy’s Savino Del Bene Scandicci or Germany’s Allianz MTV Stuttgart who are likely to win their respective First Round clashes.
