Imoco informed their fans that they will present three newcomers tomorrow, all currently competing in the 2019 FIVB Nations League – two for Italy and one for the United States!
With all due respect for the other two newcomers to Imoco, this one stands out: the 2019 CEV Champions League MVP and one of the best opposites in the world at the moment, despite her young age, Paola Egonu. She will come to the Italian Championship winners from a team which they beat in the title matchup, Igor Gorgonzola Novara. A 20-year-old Egonu and her side took revenge on Imoco in the Champions League Super Final, a week ago.
The other two bombastic new arrivals are Indre Sorokaite and Chiaka Ogbogu.
The Lithuanian-born Sorokaite is the best scorer for Italy national team in the first weekend of the 2019 Nations League. A 30-year-old player also covers the opposite hitter’s position, coming from Il Bisonte Firenze. A 24-year-old American middle blocker Ogbogu completes the trio of the newcomers in Imoco. Last season, she defended the colors of Chemik Police, Poland.
Earlier, Imoco announced renewing with the head coach Daniele Santarelli, who has been at the helm of the Conegliano team since 2017/18, winning two national titles. Two seasons prior to this, he acted as an assistant coach in the club. More than a year ago, Santarelli was appointed Croatia Women’s national team head coach.
