Marcello Abbondanza is the new head coach of an Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship team Zanetti Bergamo for the 2019/20 season.

Bergamo decided to entrust the coaching guidance of the team in the 2019/20 season to the country’s famous expert Marcello Abbondanza, who replaced Matteo Bertini.

Abbondanza, the head coach of the Polish giants Chemik Police last season, came to Bergamo with a rich list of trophies. In fact, a 48-year-old expert returned to the club of its beginnings as he acted there as an assistant coach between 1998 and 2000.

Abbondanza has four national titles on his account - two in Turkey (Fenerbahçe Opet), one in Azerbaijan (Rabitə Bakı) and one in Poland (Chemik Police), two titles in the CEV Cup (Volley Pesaro and Fenerbahçe Opet), five national cups between Italy, Turkey and Poland, and with two particular records set: in the 2017/18 season, Abbondanza set the record of nine consecutive championship finals in four different leagues, a series that began in the 2009/10 season in Italy and continued in the following years in Azerbaijan, Turkey and Poland. In 2016, he competed for his third CEV Champions League final four reached with three different teams.

FRA W: RC Cannes sign outside hitter from Texas University

Cannes' roster for next season doesn't seem to be THAT focused on young talent IMO. Don't see a difference to other clubs in this regard. Their main problem seems to be the decreasing interest of people in the club, a lack of (new) supporters to attend their home matches. Reply
