Tehran Times released exclusive information citing sources from the Iranian Volleyball Federation (IRIVF): Vladimir Alekno will be appointed the head coach of the men’s national team of this Asian country in the next few days.
The IRIVF Secretary General Milad Taghavi has confirmed that the federation has reached an initial agreement with the Russian expert – the winner of the 2012 Olympic Games, 2011 FIVB World League, and 2011 FIVB World Cup while commanding ‘Zbornaya’. Alekno was one of five candidates to take over the bench of Iran Men after IRIVF parted ways with Montenegrin Igor Kolaković.
Alekno is currently at the helm of a club in his home country, Zenit-Kazan.
