ONICO announced that they have filed a complaint to the Plus Liga in regard to the two situations during Game 1 of the playoff finals against ZAKSA, played yesterday: changing the referee’s decision on the match ball for Warszawa club in the tie-break and not awarding the point to them in the fourth set. Subsequently, the result until the end of the match remained incorrect.
The key moment in the tie-break which ONICO refer to was when they had a 14-13. Their player Piotr Łukasik made a double contact with the ball while receiving the service from Mateusz Bieniek but the umpire did not notice the irregular play of the visiting player. Moments later, the Bulgarian Nikolay Penchev scored a point which caused his teammates and coaching staff to explode with joy for winning the match. On the other side, ZAKSA volleyball players began to protest against such a decision with fury. Łukasz Kaczmarek was most nervous in ZAKSA, hitting the referee’s post. For that, he was red carded. After some time, the first referee changed his decision, ruling it was a double contact of Łukasik. Also, Kaczmarek’s red card cost his team to lose a point so, after these two calls, the result was ultimately changed at 15-14 for ONICO and the match resumed.
