The regular-season vice-champions Jastrzębski Węgiel won the semifinal series of the 2020/21 Polish Men’s PlusLiga playoffs against the 7th-seed Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie. After sweeping rivals in the first game of the quarterfinals, in which both teams showed nervous performance, Jastrzębski downed Aluron in 4 sets in Game 2, partially – 24-26, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.
It was a night of Mohamed Al Hachdadi. The Moroccan poured in 24 points for Jastrzębski. Łukasz Wiśniewski made 4 blocks, while Jakub Popiwczak made 71 % reception (17 digs, 53 % perfect).
In the biggest classic of the Polish men’s volleyball, no.4 PGE Skra Bełchatów confidently beat 5th-seed Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in Game 2 (3-0), won the series and moved to the semifinals. American-Serbian duo Sander and Petković scored 15 points apiece on the winning side, while Karol Kłos had 4 blocks.
No.6 VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa tied the series against 3rd-seed Trefl Gdańsk. The team from the country’s capital prevailed in ‘to be or not to be’ match in the tie-break. Bartosz Kwolek tallied 24 points (4 blocks) for Warszawa. Belgian Igor Grobelny stood out in reception (73 %, 26 digs, 35 % perfect).
