Kuzbass
The reigning champions of Russia, Lokomotiv, suffered the first defeat in the preliminary round of the 2020 Kubok Rossii. In the big match of Zone 1 (Pool 1), they succumbed to Kuzbass and Ivan Zaytsev. Italian opposite hitter tallied 20 points for the Kemerovo side who swept the rivals by a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-20).
Belogorie surprisingly defeated Fakel in Zone 2. It was a four-set victory, partially 25-22, 20-25, 25-12, and 25-18. A teenage outside hitter Pavel Tetyukhin, son of a 2012 London Olympics winner with “Zbornaya“ Sergey Tetyukhin, led the Belgorod side with 19 points. Sergey Chervyakov set up 4 kill blocks.
