Montichiari
Metalleghe Sanitars Montichiari played such an amazing match on road against Serie A1 leaders Imoco Volley Conegliano. Their players showed perfection in attack in first two sets, made incredible turnaround in the tie-break (7-13) and canceled two match balls to finally win 21-19!
The Pole Berenika Tomsia was the most deserving player for Montichiari’s qualification to the Final Four in Ravenna (March 19-20) with 32 points. On the other side, American Megan Easy had 26, while even six blocks from her compatriot Rachael Adams were not enough for winning the match.
Trophy holders Igor Gorgonzola Novara will not be able to defend it since they suffered a straigh-set defeat at home by Foppapedretti Bergamo with Croatian Katarina Barun-Šušnjar standing out with 19 points.
Another upset in the quarter-finals occured in Piacenza where the hosts Nordmeccanica downed Cup runners-up Liu Jo Modena in straight sets, too, with 18 points from the Dutch Floortje Meijners.
Italian champions Pomì Casalmaggiore had relatively easy job at home versus Savino Del Bene Scandicci (3-1) thanks to great game by Serbian Jovana Stevanović (17 points, 7 blocks!).
