Even though it has not been officially confirmed, he was allegedly using marijuana.

The Bulgarian opposite didn’t play for Levski in a game against Dobrudza. The president of the team Vladimir Nikolov didn’t know the answer to the question about Bayrev’s doping. He added that they will come out with more information on Wednesday.

Bayrev is facing now a minimum six-month suspension but there is the possibility to get two years ban as well.

He came as a big reinforcement during the last summer and after the retirement of Vladimir Nikolov, he was symbolically announced as his successor on the volleyball court.

This is the third doping case so far this year. Previously, one Peruvian player was tested positive and Russian player as well.
