From an early retirement to another major award… The previous year of Matt Anderson indeed had a scenario worth of some Hollywood movie. At the end of 2014, American volleyball star decided to make a pause in his career, due to depression. It was a big question whether he will ever return to play volleyball, but in January 2015 he decided to try again.
He returned to Kazan and started a true fairytale. Anderson won all possible trophies with Zenit, including the CEV Champions League. Couple of months later he was voted the MVP at the FIVB World Cup, while USA won the gold medal and qualified for the Olympic Games.
After everything he has achieved in the previous 12 months, USA Volleyball has awarded him with Men’s Indoor Player of the Year Award for the fourth year in a row!
Matt Anderson is officially the best USA indoor volleyball player in 2015! Congratulations!
