Transfer bomb on the horizon – Tifanny, a player who underwent a sex change, trains with Bauru!

The games of Genter Vôlei/Bauru in the Brazilian Superliga might be closely watched next season in case they hire the first-ever player who has competed in both Men’s and Women’s volleyball competition - Tifanny!

Last season was the debut season for the Brazilian receiver/opposite Tifanny Pereira de Abreu, who underwent a sex change in 2014, in the Women’s volleyball. She has spent it in Italian Division 2 side Golem Software Palmi, causing a lot of commotion as the players of other clubs in the league expressed their disagreement with the fact she was allowed to compete.

In the 2017/18, Tifanny (born as Rodrigo Pereira de Abreu) might wear the jersey of Bauru and compete in her homeland for the first time since she became a woman and for the first time in any volleyball top division.

At the moment, she only trains with Bauru who gave her a chance to recover from a left-hand surgery…
