The campaign for the CEV presidential election is in full swing. Here is a brief overview of the Polish candidate, Leo Wencel, who has been supported by the Polish Volleyball Federation.
Leo Wencel, a prominent Polish businessman and long-time sports executive, is officially running for the presidency of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) this year.
Wencel brings a wealth of business experience and a deep passion for volleyball to his candidacy. “CEV needs someone who embodies both the qualities of a top manager and a sports executive, and for the first time in history, we have such a candidate,” says Sebastian Świderski, President of the Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS). Wencel has led both Polish and international companies, including Nestlé Polska and the Baltic States and Nestlé Italy, gaining extensive experience in managing global organizations.
His expertise extends to sports sponsorship, notably initiating the project for the women’s volleyball team Winiary Kalisz. Wencel currently serves as an advisor to the Polish Volleyball League, a member of the board of the Polish Volleyball Federation, and an active participant in the “We Support Polish Volleyball” Association. He is fluent in Polish, English, Russian, and Italian.
Wencel’s campaign emphasizes the necessity of increasing the budget by securing major sponsors, ensuring fair distribution of funds, implementing changes within the CEV organization, and enhancing its values. Backed by the Polish Volleyball Federation, he enjoys strong support from the Polish volleyball community. The CEV presidential elections are set to take place on August 24 this year in Naples
