A player of Minchanka Katsiaryna Sakolchyk was ready to give some answers about the challenges in this competition as well in the other competitions, personal plans, team goals etc.
How does it feel like to play in the Russian league?
“I always liked the Russian championship so participation in the Super League is interesting. The level of teams is much higher compared to the teams in Belarus which means that the work is completely different, including ourselves,” says Sakolchyk in an interview for WorldofVolley.
What are the positive things and are there some negative sides of playing in the Russian league?
“There are more positive sides than negative ones. Generally speaking, there is actually one negative but very sensitive for me. It’s a tight flight schedule, changing time zones – this is the most difficult thing. Of course, the positive side is that we are gaining experience. Each game is very important and there are no weak opponents. When we say playing against the best teams pushes you to be the best. It’s also about the character, you need to set up yourself for the game and give the maximum, regardless of the time zone or a long flight.”
What is the goal of Minchanka for this season?
“The goal in the Russian Super League is reaching one of the first eight places which lead to the playoffs and for the Champions League, to reach the next round.”
How far can Minchanka go in the CEV Champions League?
“You can expect everything from our team so the upcoming games will show how far we can go. It’s difficult to answer.”
How this participation of Minchanka in the Russian League will affect on the Belarus volleyball?
“I believe this will have a positive impact on the volleyball in Belarus. Of course, for each of the players, it’s good to gain experience in such competition. It’s good for the national team and the players to gather it. I think this project will help our indoor volleyball to make a progress.”
How would you rate this 2018?
“This year has been the best in my career.”
What are the expectations for 2019?
“I want to get better and to reach some good results in 2019.”
Where will you spend the New Year’s Eve?
“I will celebrate the New Year’s Eve at home in the company of my friend @fra_vera.”
If you were not a volleyball player, what would you be?
“That’s actually an interesting question. Not sure. Who knows?”
What would be your message for all young volleyball players?
“You need to love volleyball and to work every day to get better and to become a better player. Nothing is impossible,” says Katsiaryna Sakolchyk for WorldofVolley.
