That’s impressive. Let’s hear the impressions directly from Milena Rasic.

Milena, 2018 has been the most successful in your career. Do you agree?

It’s been a dream year for me. I am very happy because of all that happened to me this year and I hope it will continue in the future. Simply, I have no word to describe all of these,” says Milena for WorldofVolley.

You won every trophy at the clubs’ level in the previous season and it seems that you subscribed on trophies?

“It’s simple. I’ve been lucky to work with the excellent coaches and to play with great players. The last season was historic for us and I’m glad that we entered this season with the same goals.”

A gold medal at the World Championship was the highlight of the year and the most important trophy in your career. What was the key to success?

A gold medal at the World Championship was something that I missed in my private trophy room and I was patience for it, waiting for a chance to take it. This year, we had a great team and even better atmosphere and all of these led us to the gold medal. We went to Japan with one goal – to win that long-awaited gold.”

Have you received greetings from your former teams from Serbia, Sumadija Arandjelovac and Dinamo Pancevo?

I’ve received many greetings from many sides. I am grateful to all people and I am grateful to them for gaining experience while being a player of these teams.

Recently at the Club’s World Championship, you won the gold medal. How would you rate the performances of Vakifbank in this competition?

I think that was one of the best displays of Vakifbank so far. During the whole tournament we played at a high level and I heard from many people that we looked very powerful. The fans enjoyed our displays in China.”

In the last two games against Eczacibasi, you suffered two defeats. What outcome you are expecting in the Turkish league since your fierce rival wants the trophy in this season at any costs?

Eczacibasi have a great team in this season and high goals as well. We will have a very difficult season. We lost two clashes against them but I believe we will be at a much higher level when we reach those important games. I truly believe that these two teams will play in the final of the Turkish Championship. It’s going to be spectacular finals.

This is your fifth season in Vakifbank. Can you imagine a situation of being a member of another team?

After these five years, I feel here like at home. There is no reason to change a team. It’s too early to talk about the future decision but I believe whatever I decide, it will motivate me to work even harder.”

Do you have some unfulfilled dreams in volleyball?

Gold at the Olympic Games. That’s something I dream about. The silver from the Beijing Olympics is a big deal for sure but if I win that gold, I will fulfill all my dreams in volleyball.”

What are you doing when not playing volleyball?

“I am a person that likes to have friends around myself. I usually go for a coffee, dinner, cinema with friends or even we gather at home and enjoy. When I am home alone, I like watching movies, reading some books. I am not a different person compared to the other people.”

How difficult is to play the season in the club and then to move to the national team jersey? Do you have time to rest?

“It’s really difficult. It’s more difficult to switch it in my head and to focus on new goals compared to the physical state. We don’t have that much time to rest and sometimes it goes up to the whole three days. However, over time you get used to it and everything is easier afterwards.”

Milena Rašić as the head coach. Maybe it’s too early to speak about coaching career, but have you ever thought about it?

My plan is to stay in the sports niche and to be more precise, to have some job related to volleyball. I am not sure about the position I would like to work but we will decide about it in the future. Generally speaking, I would like to work with the kids.”

Where are you going to spend the New Year’s Eve?

“After 8 years I got the opportunity to spend the New Years’ eve in Serbia and believe me there is no happier person than me at this moment. I will use these free days to spend with my family and friends.”

Goals for 2019?

I won’t be modest when we talk about this topic. I would like to win all the competitions in which I compete. There is no better feeling than going to the podium after winning the gold medal.

Can you give some advice to the young volleyball players that are trying to play volleyball professionally?

“Be persistent. Work hard. Believe in your dreams and walk bravely towards them. There is a long road in front of you, full of some barriers, but if you believe that you can overcome them, you will reach your dreams,” says Milena Rasic at the end of the interview with WorldofVolley.
