Gent just had a misfortune to play against the best team in the world in the first round of CEV Champions League. VakifBank was just too strong for Belgians and that resulted in a straight sets game. Gent – VakifBank 0-3 (15-25, 22-25, 21-25)
Away team had three two digit players – Toksoy (12), Furst (10) and Uslupehlivan (10), while Verstrepen was leading Gent with 11 points.
Dabrowa Gornicza is stumbling in Polish league, but was pretty convincing in elite European competition. Stinta Bacau didn’t have a slightest chance in this match. Dabrowa Gornicza – Stinta Bacau 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-18).
Zaroslinska made 19 points for home team, De Souza Gonzaga added 11. For the losing side Potokar collected 12 points.
The most impressive match of the day was certainly one in Italy. Conegliano had two sets lead, but Galatasaray equalized and had a four points lead in fifth set. But Italians made an unbelievable come back. They saved the set ball at 13-14, and then seized victory after great block. Conegliano – Galatasaray (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 18-16).
