The most-titled Egyptian club Al Ahly Cairo (29 national championships) cruised to a straight-set victory over compatriots Smouha SC in the finals of the 2019 African Club Championship, partially 25-17, 25-23, 25-19. Thus, the side from the Egyptian capital won the continental trophy for the 14th time (the nearest follower on the winner’s list is Tunisian CF Sfaxien with six titles). This African Club Championship trophy, third in a row for Al Ahly, came in front of their own crowd. Their dominance most clearly reflected in the fact that they did not suffer a single loss during an entire tournament: a 7-0 record.
Two weeks ago, Al Ahly got another African volleyball club champions as women’s team lifted the trophy as well.
