ARG M: Argentina’s NT begin preparations, family issues prevent coach Velasco to arrive

In the CeNARD (The National Center of High Performance Athletics) in Buenos Aires, the National Team of Argentina began to train ahead of the 2016 FIVB World League and 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

The squad will work under the guidance of assistant coach Julián Álvarez as the head coach Julio Velasco will arrive in the country only next Friday due to family issues linked to the health of one of his daughters. He is currently in Italy.

At the moment, 17 players started to practice. They are an integral part of the „big“ list of 34. Other 17 will be invited at the end of the playoff finals in Argentina as well as after the finish of the seasons in European leagues. Then, players like De Cecco, Conte, Filardi, Garrocq etc. will be summoned.

The list of 17 which started preparations of Argentine NT:

Setters: Juan Martín Riganti, Matías Sánchez. Opposites: Javier Vega, Manuel Leskiw, Bruno Lima. Middle blockers: Facundo Imhoff, Fabián Flores, Iván Postemsky, Lucas Armesto. Receivers: Cristian Poglajen, Ezequiel Palacios, Jan Martínez, Lisandro Zanotti, Alejandro Toro, Rodrigo Quiroga. Liberos: Ignacio Fernández, Franco López.
