Al-Arabi Sports Club dominated Diamond Food in their first match at the 2021 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Qatar’s Al-Arabi, the favorites no.1 for the title, were too strong for the Thai Diamond Food in Round 2 of Pool B of the 2021 Asian Men’s Club Championship. It was the first match of the club from Doha in the tournament in which Serbian Konstantin Čupković was the key figure, scoring 24 points – truly outstanding output for a three-set encounter. In the same pool, Uzbekistan’s AGMK overcame a slow start to the match against Philippine Rebisco Philippines to note their first victory in the event: 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-18, 25-19).
Led by Amorntep Konhan (26 points), the players of the home side of Nakhon Ratchasmina QminC VC had to soak their jerseys wet to prevent Iraq’s South Gas Club to pull off another upset (beat Burevestnik Almaty on Day 1) in Pool A. Apart from Al-Arabi, one more team debuted in the 2021 Asian Club Championship today – Sri Lankan CEB Sports Club. But unlike the Qatari side, they were not successful as they got swept by Kuwait’s Kazma Sport Club for which Dominican Elvis Contreras tallied 14 points.
