China defeated Japan 3-0, partially 25-20, 25-23, and 25-22 in the final of the 2022 Men’s AVC Cup in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. After winning this year’s edition of the second most respected national team tournament in the continent (ranked lower than the Asian Championship but higher than the Asian Challenge Cup), China reached the top of the podium for the second time, doing so 10 years after the first title.

China, using all of their big guns, such as Yu Yuantai, Zhang Jingyin, Peng Shikun, and Zhang Zhejia finished the 2022 AVC Cup undefeated (7-0). As for Japan, who came to the event with their “B“ team (without 14 players selected for the 2022 FIVB World Championship roster), it was their first-ever appearance in the final. In the battle for third place, the debutants in the AVC Cup, Bahrain, beat South Korea 3-0 (25-23, 27-25, 32-30) to win the bronze medal.
