Japan Clinches Bronze in Thrilling Clash at 22nd Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 6, 2023 – The Japanese Women’s Volleyball team emerged victorious in an electrifying match against Vietnam, securing the bronze medal at the 22nd Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship. The pulsating encounter saw both teams fiercely competing, resulting in a final score of 3-2 in favor of Japan (21-25, 25-14, 25-22, 20-25, 15-11).

Okumu Oba Fuyumi Hawi, the outstanding outside hitter for Japan, played a pivotal role in the victory, with an impressive score of 27 points. Out of these, 26 points came from her successful attacks in 50 attempts. Not far behind was her teammate Yuki Nishikawa, who bolstered Japan’s offense with 26 points, of which 24 were attacks.

Vietnam, despite their valiant effort, fell just short of the bronze. Their lead player, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, exhibited commendable skills and strategy, registering 22 points that included 20 attacks from her 50 attempts.
