The pool stage of the 19th Asian Games Men’s Volleyball Tournament has concluded, and the top teams have advanced to the round of 12. Today’s matches determined the qualifiers for the next round.
Pool A: China Dominates Kazakhstan
In a thrilling encounter, the host nation, China, and last year’s AVC Cup champions, faced a stern test from Kazakhstan. However, China managed to prevail, defeating Kazakhstan in a gripping three-set match with scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-20. This win secured China’s place in the round of 12, along with Kazakhstan, as the top two teams from Pool A.
Pool B: Iran Continues Reigning Supreme
Reigning champions Iran demonstrated their dominance in Pool B by defeating Bahrain in a dramatic four-set match, with scores of 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 25-20. This victory marked Iran’s second consecutive win and secured their position at the top of the pool. Bahrain finished in second place, while Nepal took third.
Pool C: Korea Overcomes Cambodia
Korea faced a tough challenge in the first set against Cambodia but managed to emerge victorious with scores of 25-23, 25-13, 25-15. This win secured Korea’s second-place finish in Pool C, with India leading the pool and Cambodia taking the third position.
Pool D: Chinese Taipei and Pakistan Advance
In a must-win match, Chinese Taipei dominated Mongolia in straight sets, winning with scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-21. Pakistan topped Pool D, while Chinese Taipei secured the second position. Unfortunately, Mongolia’s journey in the competition came to an end.
Pool E and F: Qatar, Indonesia, and Japan Shine
In Pool E, Qatar secured the top spot by defeating Hong Kong 3-1 (25-21, 25-13, 22-25, 25-21). Meanwhile, in Pool F, Indonesia secured the second-place ticket to the round of 12 by defeating Afghanistan 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-17). Japan claimed the top spot in Pool F by defeating the Philippines in straight sets, 25-19, 25-14, and 25-23.
With the pool stage now behind us, the excitement continues as the top two teams from each pool advance to the round of 12. Additionally, there will be cross matches featuring B1 vs. E2, A2 vs. F1, A1 vs. F2, B2 vs. E1, C1 vs. D2, and C2 vs. D1, adding to the intensity and competition in the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 Men’s Volleyball Competition.
