The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), governing body for volleyball in Asia, has recently communicated with its affiliated Federations regarding the rescheduling of the 2024 Asian Men’s and Women’s Club Volleyball Championships. Originally slated for April, these championships will now take place in September, after the conclusion of the Olympic Games.

The decision to reschedule was made in consideration of the league’s official start date, which is set for August 30. This adjustment aims to ensure optimal participation and preparation for the participating clubs.

Moreover, the championships continue to serve as the qualifying tournaments for the 2024 FIVB Club World Championships, scheduled for December. China will host the women’s competition, while India will host the men’s event.

In collaboration with VolleyballWorld (VW), a partnership between the FIVB and CVC Capital Partners, AVC is finalizing the host nations for four Asian senior events in 2024, including the two Asian Club Championships and the AVC Challenge Cup for Men and Women. The host nations for these tournaments will be determined by VolleyballWorld.

In a significant change, the qualification process for the Club World Championships has been revised. Beginning in 2024, two places per continent for Europe, Asia, and South America, one place for Africa, and a spot for the host nation’s club will be allocated. This alteration aims to ensure equitable representation from different continents and provide an opportunity for the host country’s club to participate.

Notably, the top two teams from both the 2024 Asian Men’s and Women’s Club Championships will earn berths in the Club World Championships. This, combined with the host nation’s club, will see a total of three Asian representatives in each of the men’s and women’s events.

Reflecting on the previous edition of the Asian Men’s Club Championship in 2023, the Suntory Sunbirds made history by becoming the first Japanese team to clinch the title. In the women’s event, Sport Center secured Vietnam’s inaugural Asian Club title.
