In the final of the competition, Japan defeated Thailand 3-2 (26-28, 20-25, 25-16, 25-16, 15-7) and won their 17th medal in total.
Same like China who this year stayed without a medal but in the history have 13 gold medals, 3 silver, and one bronze. Japan in 17 medals have 4 golden, 7 silvers and 6 bronzes.
In the match for the third place South Korea outplayed China 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-20) and won their 16th medal (9th bronze).
“We are disappointed with the loss to Thailand in the semi-finals on Wednesday, but we are happy that we beat China for the bronze medal. Actually, we had a tight schedule before competing in this championship. We contested the World Grand Prix and there are so many young players in our team. I think they learned a lot from this tournament. After this, we will train more for the World Championship Qualification in Thailand and hope to do our best there,” said Kim Yeon-Koung.
