The third seed Taubaté advanced to the Superliga Cimed 2018-2019 finals by beating reigning champions and also No.2 seed Cruzeiro in Game 3 in the tie-break (21-25, 36-34, 25-19, 19-25 and 15-12) to close the semifinal series with a sweep. Thus, Taubaté put an end to a five-year hegemony of Cruzeiro in the competition. And what a way to do it – by not letting them win a single match in the series and by sealing Cruzeiro’s faith in front of their fans. We remind you that Cruzeiro have reached the Superliga final in the last eight years and won six titles in that period. Just like Game 1, this one was also filled with errors on both sides (32 service errors apiece!), especially in the second set that, in many ways, determined the rest of the match. Ricardo Lucarelli top-scored for Taubaté with 19 points, while Lucas Saatkamp had 75% excellent attack and made four kill blocks. Evandro Guerra scored 22 points for Cruzeiro. Isac Santos set up four kill blocks.
The opponent of Taubaté in the finals, second-ever for the club, will be the regular season winners SESI-SP, who also swept their rivals in the semifinals, No.4 seed SESC-RJ, thanks to 18 points (four kill blocks) from Alan Souza and 92% positive reception from Lucas Lóh. It is going to be the Paulista classic in the finals as both teams are coming from the São Paulo state. For SESI, it is going to be the fifth title matchup in the club history.
Superliga Cimed 2018-2019 playoff semifinals – Game 3:
(1) SESI-SP – (4) SESC-RJ 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-21), series 3-0
(2) Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei – (3) EMS Taubaté Funvic 2-3 (25-21, 34-36, 19-25, 25-19, 12-15), series 0-3

Sada Cruzeiro had a bad season because of Simon’s lack of professionalism. The team opted for him and Sander in the waves of foreigners and dismissed the great Argentine lifter, then he leaves and undermines the planning of the team that gets a poor lifter!
