Bruna Honório, who less than a month ago won the Brazilian Championship title with Itambé Minas, was dismissed from Brazil national team as she failed medical tests. The examinations showed that a 29-year-old opposite hitter had atrial myxoma, a tumor in the atrium of the heart. Minas did not publish which heart condition was revealed when their player underwent medical tests, but media in the country reported it was a cardiac tumor.
As the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League will begin on May 21, the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) and Minas decided that Bruna Honório should return to the club for further evaluations with the specialist. This, of course, means that she will miss the international season.
Bruna Honório joined a rather large group of players who will not be able to compete with Brazil national team this year in which “Seleção” will have four commitments: the FIVB Nations League, South American Championship, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Qualifications, and FIVB World Cup. Other players are Adenízia, Thaísa, Camila Brait, Gabi Cândido, Tassia, Drussyla, and Dani Lins.
