Until recently it seemed that the Poland national team opposite hitter Kurek will stay in ONICO Warszawa with whom he nearly won the Plus Liga title. Especially because the club from the Polish capital intends to further strengthen its roster for the next season.
But, as Prawda Siatki reported, a 30-year-old Kurek is close to joining the Italian side Cucine Lube Civitanova, who currently competes in the national championship playoff finals. The 2018 FIVB World Championship MVP has already defended the colors of Lube, from 2013 to 2015, winning the Italian League and Super Cup.
In case Kurek signs with Lube, the option of Zaytsev’s arrival to the club will likely be excluded.

It was a pleasure to see what a healthy Sokolov could do this year. He will be missed. Kurek is a nice player
Not quite sure why would Sokolov leave Lube but Kurek is not a suitable replacement. He didn’t have a good season for the last few years. Outside of great games in World Championship last year, last years were bad for him. He was not playing in top clubs, canceling contracts, etc. Not to mention that Lube has to reduce the number of foreigners. I think Lube will be big mistake signing him.
I think Zaytsev stays in Modena for at least one more years. He has very likely one more year of the contract, and I doubt that Anderson will come to Modena with Zaytsev.
correction for Kurek. this season was great for him (excluding back injury in play-off), but true that before that he had a few disappointing years. from what journalists from Poland learned, Zenit offered 900k EUR for Sokolov, 300k more than Lube, so financially it’s improbable to keep him in Italy. with Zaytsev the problem is more complicated, cause Gianni (Modena from next season) wants to keep him at all cost AND he has valid contract for next year. so Lube has to calculate what is more important for them, good opposite with Italian passport but for bigger cost (contract for player + money to modena for buying out contract) or foreign opposite but for much less money. for now, it looks a bit confusing, so let’s see who goes where…
