Serbia’s women’s national team continues to face difficulties in the 2025 Volleyball Nations League (VNL), recording its sixth consecutive defeat. The team currently sits at the bottom of the standings, with no wins so far in the competition.
Following the most recent loss to Germany, head coach Zoran Terzić offered a measured but concerned assessment of the team’s performance. “We came into this tournament with a weakened roster, and while we didn’t expect to dominate, this is still far from what we hoped for,” Terzić said.
He pointed out that while some younger players have shown potential, others have yet to meet expectations. “There are a few young athletes who can become key contributors in the future,” he noted. “But for some, progress hasn’t been at the level we need right now.”
Terzić also addressed the broader issue of readiness and maturity among the squad. “A player in their twenties should no longer be considered inexperienced,” he said. “There are things they should already know—how to adapt, how to apply training during matches.”
He acknowledged that part of the responsibility lies with the coaching staff. “If players aren’t learning certain things early, then it’s our job to adjust how we work with them. Some changes will be necessary going forward.”
Despite missing several of its top players, including Tijana Bošković, Aleksandra Uzelac, and Mina Popović, Terzić emphasized that the team needs to find ways to improve with the available lineup. “We’re not used to being in this position,” he said. “It’s not an ideal situation, but we’ll continue to work and try to improve in the next matches.”
