The main sponsor of the Brazilian top division side Sesi Vôlei Bauru (created by the merger between the older Vôlei Bauru and Sesi-SP in 2018) Serviço Social da Indústria decided to limit the investment in professional sports, including volleyball. The company will maintain the budget of more than 30 million Brazilian reals per year (more than $ 5.7 million) in sports but, from next year, will reduce the number of athletes hired.
For example, the women’s volleyball team Sesi Bauru will have a maximum of eight players over 20 years old. The other players in the squad will need to come from the base categories. The number of players in the roster of the first team who come from the youth team will rise to 80 % in the years to come.
