Anderson vs. IRN
USA ended Iran’s winning streak of two games against them and took a four-set victory after coming back from one set down 3-1 (23-25, 25-13, 27-25, 26-24). The encounter took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, who is hosting the first weekend of Pool B.
Thanks to Matthew Anderson’s good attacking mood (23 points) and Taylor Sander’s and David Lee’s blocking performance (four blocks each), the US NT prevailed in two close sets, losing only one of a kind.
On the other side, Shahram Mahmoudi was again on a high level, scoring 16 points, but Iran have 0-2 record at the moment.
