POOL B
Italy joined hosts Poland at the top of Pool B in Łódź as both sides have a perfect record (2-0) and did not lose a single set so far (6-0).
Despite playing against the obvious underdogs, Italy head coach Mazzanti introduced the strongest possible line-up against Ukraine, which led to a fluttering play of his players in which Paola Egonu stood out with 20 points (76% excellent attack), including 6 aces. Monica De Gennaro made 75% positive reception. Italy won in straight sets, partially 25-16, 25-18 and 25-10.
POOL D
Just like his colleague on Italy’s bench, Russia head coach Pankov did not want to take any chances and sent all major players on the court from the start of the match against Switzerland. It resulted in a 3-0 win of „Zbornaya“ and a 2-0 in the charts. The first set was a true test for Russia but they showed all of their potential in the third set in which they left rivals in single digits.
Russia’s superstar Nataliya Goncharova scored game-high 15 points, while Ekaterina Efimova set up 5 kill blocks. Laura Künzler was the only player in Switzerland with double figures in the scoresheet (10 points).

Once Kaja Grobelna said that she would like to play longer in the Italian Serie A, rather not play for a long time, as she finished 1 attack on 14 attackes! – 7% attack.
