Turkey will fight Germany in the final of the 2020 European Women’s Olympic Qualifier and try to earn a spot in the Tokyo Games.
The team coached by Giovanni Guidetti was on a verge of a defeat against Poland in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. Turkey trailed by 2-1 in sets and faced 5 match points of the rivals in the 4th set. However, they managed to cancel them all and convert their 3rd set point to tie at 2-2 after 45 minutes of a play. Later, Turkey took advantage of the nervousness of the Polish rivals in the tie-break to enter the final.
Turkey was superb in the block, setting up 22 with Eda Erdem Dündar making 10 of them! Meryem Boz shone in the attack with 36 points! As for the losing side, one of the biggest prospects of the world volleyball Magdalena Stysiak tallied 25 points, while Agnieszka Kąkolewska made 5 kill blocks.
