CEV announces new dream team: Women’s team of first decade in 2000s

The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) continued with its series of composing dream teams in the continental volleyball.

After choosing best women’s volleyball team made of European players of the last decade, best men’s volleyball team made of European players of the last decade, and electing top 5 male and female non-European players in the Champions League in last 20 years, the CEV has now announced the new dream team. This one was called “European Team of the Decade: Women 2000-2009“.

The three big coaching names – the two Italians Giovanni Caprara and Massimo Barbolini – and German Felix Koslowski concluded their debate by singling out these seven players:

Setter: Eleonora Lo Bianco (Italy)

Opposite hitter: Taismary Agüero (Cuba/Italy)

Outside hitters: Francesca Piccinini (Italy) and Lyubov Sokolova (Russia)

Middle blockers: Christiane Fürst (Germany) and Victoria Ravva (Georgia/France)

Libero: Paola Cardullo (Italy)
