The 62-year-old Brazilian expert Antônio Marcos Lerbach is the new head coach of Japan’s Ageo, replacing Toshiaki Yoshida.

Lerbach is famous as one of the most successful coaches of base categories ever in the world. He won as many as 21 gold medals commanding Brazil’s base national teams: 10 with the U19 national team (3 in the FIVB World Championship and 7 in the South American Championship) and 11 with the U21 national team (2 in the FIVB World Championship and 9 in the South American Championship).

After that, Lerbach was hired as a technical assistant in the Brazil senior National Team, being a part of the staff that won the 2006 FIVB World Championship and 2009 FIVB Volleyball Nations League. Later, he performed the same role in Brazil youth categories, while his last job prior to coming to Ageo was the advisor coach in Japanese men’s club Sakai Blazers (2017-2019).
