The only 2021 EuroVolley qualification tournament out of seven in total that’s scheduled for this year set off in Nicosia, Cyprus. Spain and Latvia noted first wins in Pool D.
Spain dropped a set against the hosts Cyprus (3-1: 25-22, 25-27, 25-17, 25-17), being led towards success by Juan Manuel González “Juanmi”, the scorer of 20 points. In the other match today, Latvia thrashed Moldova in straight sets with 21 points from Atvars Ozoliņš.
The competition in the Cypriot capital continues tomorrow. The eventual pool winners are to secure their participation in the EuroVolley, which will be co-hosted by Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia, and Finland next summer.
