Latvia-vs-Spain
Spain dominate Pool D of the 2021 EuroVolley Qualifier that’s being played in Nicosia, Cyprus (the only qualification tournament this year).
In Round 2, they beat direct rival for the first place in the pool and a spot in the continental championship next year, the national team of Latvia, by a 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 25-19). Ricardo Maldonado’s wards clearly outplayed Latvia in the first two sets. By taking the third set, the Baltic side generated pressure with whom Spain managed to cope and got closer to punching the ticket to the next EuroVolley.
Juan Manuel González “Juanmi” once again top-scored for Spain, putting down 14 points. Hermans Egleskalns made 22 for Latvia. Spain will close the first phase of the qualifications against Moldova, on Tuesday. Their next opponents swept the hosts in the other match today.
