The continuity of the VNL, formerly known as the FIVB World Grand Prix, has been interrupted this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The FIVB has heated up the anticipation for the next edition of the tournament by announcing the schedule for both men’s and women’s competitions in 2021.

Women will break the ice on May 11, while men will start on May 14. The FIVB retained the format of previous seasons, meaning that 16 teams per gender will face each other in pools of four teams each during a five-week period after which the six teams taking part in the final tournaments (Final Sixes) will be determined.

All venues for the Intercontinental Round are yet to be confirmed but what’s known is that China will host the women’s Final Six, while Italy will organize the men’s Finals. Both are scheduled at the same time, on June 23-27.
