One of the highlights of the last season in the Brazilian Championship, the 23-year-old Dominican National Team outside hitter Brayelin Martínez, will play one more season in Praia, the Uberlândia club confirmed. The MVP of the last NORCECA Championship is projected to play as an opposite hitter next season, which is the position she already covered on several occasions during the 2019/20 Superliga.
Furthermore, she’ll reunite with her sister and also a teammate in the country’s national team since youth categories, Jineiry Martínez. The 22-year-old middle blocker, awarded best on her position in the 2019 Pan-American Cup, didn’t play for any club last season. The last time these two played together on a club level was in Turkey’s Aydın Büyükşehir Belediye (2018/19).
Praia confirmed speculations on signing the Dutch outside hitter Anne Buijs. A 28-year-old player, Best Outside Spiker at EuroVolleys in 2015 and 2017, closed the trio of foreigners in Praia for the next season. Buijs will return to playing in Brazil after three years (Sesc RJ Flamengo 2016/17). She played the last season in Turkey, wearing the jersey of Türk Hava Yolları.
