In the final of the 2020 U18 EuroVolley, at home in Lecce, Italy wrecked the Czech Republic by a 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-18).

Thus, the “Azzurri“ climbed to the highest step of the continental championship podium in this age category after 23 years (last time in Púchov, Slovakia, in 1997). This was also the third consecutive gold medal of the head coach Vincenzo Fanizza, who previously commanded the Italy National Team to win trophies at the 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival (EYOF) and the 2019 FIVB U19 World Championship.

As for the match itself, Francesco Quagliozzi (Roma 7 volley youth team) and Luca Porro (Colombo Genoa volleyball school) put down 13 points apiece for Italy, while Gabriele Laurenzano (Materdomini Castellana youth team) made 80 % reception (55 % excellent). Porro was named MVP of the tournament.

Poland defeated Bulgaria in four sets in the bronze medal match.
