The number of teams that secured a spot in the 2nd Round of the 2021 men’s Champions League through the 1st Round has increased to five, meaning that one only more spot has remained vacant. Today, two more teams have done it.
After the second consecutive 3-0 win in Pool F, which they also hosted, Italy’s Itas Trentino have qualified to the next stage. They overcame Serbia’s OK Vojvodina seme Novi Sad in a direct duel for going through, in the last round, partially 25-19, 25-20, and 25-18. The Dutchman Nimir Abdel-Aziz top-scored for Trentino with 13 points, while Salvatore Rossini made 70 % reception (40 % excellent).
Russia’s Dinamo Moscow needed any kind of victory over Bulgaria’s Neftochimik Burgas in the penultimate round of the Pool D in Bleiburg, Austria, and achieved the one in four sets. Belgian Sam Deroo tallied 18 points for Dinamo.
Earlier, Hungary’s Fino Kaposvár (Pool A), Finland’s Ford Levoranta Sastamala (Pool B), and Poland’s Jastrzębski Węgiel (Pool C) made it to the 2nd Round. The last vacant spot in the 2nd Round will be filled by the winners of the Pool E.
