Croatia successfully overcame the second obstacle at the 2021 CEV Women’s Volleyball European Championship.
Croatia, who hosts the competition in Pool C of the CEV Women’s EuroVolley 2021 in Zadar, scored the second win in as many games. The team commanded by Italian Daniele Santarelli outplayed Belarus in three sets and thus made a huge step towards the placement in the eighth-finals. The triumph of Croatia weighs even more knowing that it lost to Belarus in the previous two continental championships. Just like in the opening game against Italy, the latter did not have solutions for Croatia’s game who opened the third set with 8-0! Samanta Fabris tallied 15 points on the winning side, while Laura Miloš served four aces. Božana Butigan set up five blocks.
Bosnia and Herzegovina earned the first-ever EuroVolley victory. The debutant to the continental championship reached the triumph against Azerbaijan in Pool A in Belgrade (Serbia) routinely, having minimal problems only in the second set. Dajana Bošković was the most efficient player in the Bosnian squad with 16 points. Andjelka Radišković served four aces and had 70 % reception (10 digs, one error, 60 % excellent). Edina Selimović had an 85 % attack (11/13). Margarita Stepanenko put down 14 points on the losing side.
