ŽOK Ub and SC Prometey Dnipro successfully passed the qualification filter and will compete in the group stage of the 2022 CEV Women’s Volleyball Champions League.
Serbian titleholders ŽOK Ub earned a promotion to the main stage of the CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Women. Eliminating Greece’s Olympiacos Piraeus, Ub became the first club from Serbia to compete in the group phase of the elite continental club competition after three years. It will be playing in Pool E against A.Carraro Imoco Conegliano, Grupa Azoty Chemik Police, and Fatum Nyíregyháza. Ub beat Olympiacos in the rematch of the 3rd qualifying round on the road in straight sets. The 1st leg went in the favor of the Serbian side after the tie-break. Ljiljana Ranković top-scored the winning team with 18 points. Sofija Medić set up six blocks.
Ukraine’s SC Prometey Dnipro will play in the group stage of the Champions League for the first time in their history. In the second leg, Ivan Petkov’s team again beat Swiss Viteos Neuchâtel UC – 3-1. The first meeting ended with the victory of the Ukrainian ladies with a score of 3-0. Prometey will be placed in Pool A with Lokomotiv Kaliningrad Region, Dresdner SC, and DevelopRes SkyRes Rzeszów.
