The first of the two all-Polish duels in the playoffs of the 2023 CEV Men’s Volleyball Champions League between Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn-Koźle (ZAKSA) lasted only three sets.
In the first playoff match, whose winner will go to the quarterfinals of the CEV Champions League Volley 2023 | Men, ZAKSA defeated Aluron 3-0. The return match is on Wednesday next week. The experience of a two-year reign in the competition was crucial for ZAKSA, which surprised PlusLiga rivals with an easy victory in their first-ever mutual encounter in any of the European Cups.
Łukasz Kaczmarek helped ZAKSA take the first step towards advancing to the top 8 with 22 points. Dawid Konarski tallied 13 for Aluron. Argentine Santiago Danani made 90% reception (10 digs, 40% excellent).
